I wanted to take a second and thank you for the great experience we had at your basketball event. This was one of our most enjoyable experiences. The games were competitive, gym was great, and most important the games were on time. Once again, thank you very much and we will see you in the future I am sure.

A Day in the Life

Stevie Taylor

Gahanna, OH

Stevie Taylor is the lightning quick point guard for the Gahanna High.

KO Basketball will follow the phenomonal student-athlete this year to get a birds-eye view of his weekly comings and goings in basketball and to understand the life of a high-school athlete.

First Entry

1/16/09

What's going on, this is Stevie Taylor..  I would like to thank Tony Sutton and KO Basketball for showing me some love.  I will start my first diary entry by telling you how my 08-09 high school basketball season is going so far.  Before this season, people were talking about Gahanna like we wouldn't be as good as the team was during my Freshman year. Last year we went 15-5 and placed 3rd in our conference.  Our conference was so tough, the eventual state champions finished 2nd in our league.  We beat them last year by 2 in a double OT.  In that game I scored 12 points and dished out 6 assists.  Last year I averaged 12.5 points per game.

This season we started kind of late and our first game wasn't until December 5th. Our first 5 games where on the road so that really tested the character of our team. In the first game I scored 18 points by the end of the first half, and I ended the game with 27 points and a win.  The next game we played Newark, the defending state champs.  We won that game on a last second half court shot and won by 1 point.  I finished with 11 points and 4 assists.  The face guarded me the entire game.

The next game was my best game of my high school career.  We played 45 minutes away at Lancaster.  That game I was feeling it from everywhere on the court.  By halftime I had 20 points.  That night I went for 34 points 5 assists and 4 rebounds and another win.  The next game the team put a triangle and 2 on me and I was held to only 7 points, but we blew the team out, so I didn't play that much.

The next game was against Pickerington Central, which had some of my old middle school friends on the team.  We won that game and I finished with 20 points.  We were 5-0 after that game.  The next game I scored 17 points in an overtime win, putting us at 6-0.  The next game we took an L to a 1-4 team.  I scored 25 points that game but the loss left us at 6-1.  We won the next game and I finished with 16 points but we were blown out the next game to a really good Grove City team, I put up 22 points and 5 assists that game.

The next game is tomorrow (Friday the 19th) against Reynoldsburg.  There are a lot of players on that team that I am really cool with.  Every year we play to a packed house.  My old Columbus Jaguars teammate, Kevin Gray is on that team so it should be a tough one.  So far I am averaging 21.3 points per game.

Vinay Reddy

reddy.jpg

Vinay Reddy

Class 2013

San Antonio, TX

Reddy is the 6'5" wing forward from Texas. He has an extremely quick release to go along with good size, which will make it very difficult to block his shot, he has not even started his high school career and already will be able to shoot over the top of people a la "Kobe Bryant".  On top of being able to get the shot off, he can also make it from any range and is especially adept at knocking down the three.

We saw Reddy up close and personal at the Superior Skills camp in Texas, but did not get to see if he can attack the basket off the dribble from the wing extended. Vinay Reddy will definitely be a name you here in the coming years, he's solid and never commits the bull-headed turnover, meaning he plays smart.  Additional time needs to be spent in the weight room but then again that's what they said about Kevin Durant.  Vinay just keep ballin baby !!

This kid displays a wide range of attack moves when finishing around the basket area, and he finishes well.  He also has a soft floater, to go along with excellent vision. I also like the goose-neck on his stroke and how the ball classicly leaves the hand from the finger tips.
